Supporting Our Students During the COVID-19 Pandemic

March 17, 2020

The Coronavirus pandemic is a fluid situation that continues to change daily, sometimes hourly. We know that every update causes stress and anxiety due to the uncertainty of the situation.

We are excited to “see” our students online in your Blackboard classrooms beginning tomorrow Wednesday, March 18.

A reminder that any clinicals and internships will continue only if those sites are accepting students. If you have questions about your clinical or internship site, please contact your instructor directly.

When labs resume on Monday, March 30 they will be restructured to accommodate no more than ten people at a time with the minimum social distancing separation maintained. Details regarding this will come directly from the faculty to the students.

Even though our CTS and AMTC campuses will be closed during this time, Central and Monroe campuses remain open with limited services to support students.  We remain committed to helping our students navigate this difficult time, and we have some ways to help:

BTC Student Cupboard

At this time, the BTC Student Cupboard will continue to operate during their normal hours using social distancing. The Student Cupboard is open every Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. — 1:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. — 5:00 p.m. If you need to make arrangements for a different time or need food delivered to the Monroe Campus contact BTCStudentCupboard@blackhawk.edu

Access to Technology

We are working to do everything we can to support students during this time and do have a very limited number of devices that we can deploy to students. There are also resources available for students who may not have internet access at home. Check out the FAQs at www.blackhawk.edu/coronavirus for more info. We do not want technology access to hinder your ability to continue in coursework.

Student Support Services

Student support services will be available on Central and Monroe Campuses.  Per Federal and State directives, we have implemented safety practices to reduce the potential spread of the Coronavirus; including limiting the number of staff on campus to ensure a safe college environment during this period of caution. To obtain the level of service you are seeking from our College staff, please call or email us before coming to campus so we can direct you for the best possible service. Many services can also be accessed online at MyBTC.

Shuttle Services Mar. 18 - 27

To accommodate the recent changes to Beloit Public Transit we have revised our shuttle schedule for those riders. View the current shuttle schedule.

Blackhawk students who reside north of campus can board the southbound Janesville and Beloit Transit buses with exit at Central Campus at no charge to the student. Students will also be able to return home using the same service (no charge to riders boarding at Central Campus). The College will pay for the fare of our students during this time.

We know that this is a challenging time for all of us and we will continue to provide updates using your College email and Blackboard. Please continue to take care of yourself and others during this time.
