Blackhawk Names Next WTCS District Ambassador

Blackhawk Technical College is pleased to announce that Casey Bennett has been selected to participate in the Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) District Ambassador program. The program selects one student from each of the state’s 16 technical college districts to act as advocates for vocational and technical education. Students serve a one-year term and are called upon to make special appearances, give presentations and participate in various events on behalf of the WTCS.

Casey, a Blackhawk Agribusiness/Science and Technology student, is described by faculty as a strong leader who loves to help his peers through advice, leadership, and team confidence. “He takes it upon himself to help others, through words of encouragement, tutoring, and just positive support,” said Agribusiness and Farm Management Instructor Dustin Williams. He continued to describe how Casey’s can-do attitude makes him a qualified candidate for any task and that his classmates and anyone else who works with him will receive 110% total commitment. 

To be considered for this honor, students must be nominated by faculty or staff and complete an application packet. Students are then selected to participate in the interview process. During the interview, students deliver a presentation describing their personal journey and decision to attend a technical college.

Regarding his own decision to choose a technical college education, Casey explained, “I chose Blackhawk Technical College because I was a stay at home dad for seven years raising my kids. The time came for me to think about re-entering the workforce and my wife made me sit down at the kitchen table and write out a list of what I wanted to do and landed on Agribusiness. Knowing that I needed more education to pursue that, I looked at several colleges in the area and chose Blackhawk Technical College for the cost benefits and location to where I live.”

Casey will not only represent Blackhawk Technical College at the state-level, but he will also participate in several events throughout the year.
