College Update from Dr. Pierner

October 15, 2020

I have some exciting updates to share with all of you regarding our COVID-19 response plan.  As you know, COVID-19 infection rates are increasing in Wisconsin at an alarming rate with large increases in Rock and Green Counties.  As expected, BTC continues to see increases in the number of COVID-19 related investigations since the Labor Day weekend.  We remain committed to taking an active role in keeping our community safe and our campuses open.

As a result, we continue to adjust our response to these outside pressures.  Our new efforts include:

  • Reducing the number of staff on-campus in areas with overlapping resources
  • Offering flu shot clinics for students and employees at no cost
  • Expanding contact investigation and tracing resources and efficiency by adding 3 additional investigators
  • Implementing two on-campus options for testing starting next week – more info to follow.

To learn more about the initiatives watch the video below.

We are committed to a proactive, scientific approach to the safety and well-being of our students and employees. One of our primary goals from the beginning was to create a safe learning environment where our students are empowered to make choices based on their needs.  As such, the College has been open for business and fully operational since early-June. College services continue to be available in-person and online.  As long as we can continue to follow our strict guidelines, we will be able to offer instruction in a way that best fits our student’s needs. As a result of your commitment to safety, we continue to have zero confirmed on-campus spread.

Please visit www.blackhawk.edu/coronavirus for additional information.  I am so proud of each of you for your focus, discipline, and compassion for our fellow community members. Get your flu shot. Wear your mask. Keep your distance. Wash your hands. And stay safe, Blackhawk.
