Rock County Public Health Department Announces Changes to the COVID-19 Vaccine Registration Process

March 26, 2021

Rock County Public Health Department announces that they will be removing the vaccine registration forms from their website effective today. After a review of the new vaccine registration systems that are now in place, it has been determined that these forms may delay the vaccination process. Anyone who has already signed up with the Rock County Public Health Department, but has not been contacted, will still be matched with a provider and contacted when appointments are available. The Rock County Vaccine hotline will still be available at (608) 352-6727 for anyone who has questions about how to connect with a local vaccine provider.

Eligible people are encouraged to use the Wisconsin COVID-19 Vaccine Registry, their local health care system, and local pharmacies to register and get vaccinated. We encourage everyone who is eligible to sign up on the Wisconsin COVID-19 Vaccine Registry at vaccinate.wi.gov or by calling (844) 684-1064. This registry will allow eligible individuals to schedule appointments with participating vaccine providers throughout the state, including the DHS Community-Based Vaccination Clinic at Rock County that is located at Blackhawk Technical College.

In addition to the groups that were eligible prior to and on March 1, a new eligibility group has opened this week. This new group includes individuals with certain medical conditions that put them at greater risk of severe COVID-19 illness. Individuals with the following medical conditions are now eligible to request and receive a COVID-19 vaccine: Asthma (moderate-to-severe), Cancer, Cerebrovascular disease, Chronic kidney disease, COPD, Cystic fibrosis, Diabetes mellitus type 1 or 2, Down syndrome, Heart conditions, Hypertension or high blood pressure, Immunocompromised state from solid organ transplant, blood or bone marrow transplant, immune deficiencies, HIV, use of corticosteroids, or use of other immune weakening medicines, Liver disease, Neurologic conditions, Obesity, Overweight, Pregnancy, Pulmonary fibrosis, Sickle cell disease, or Thalassemia.

As the vaccination process continues, and more groups of people become eligible to receive the vaccine, remember that once you are eligible, you are always eligible.  You can never “miss” your chance to be vaccinated!  It may take some time, but everyone that would like a COVID-19 vaccine will be able to get one.
