Jeff Kropp Named Beloit Rotary Educator of the Month

May 24, 2019

Jeff Kropp, Department Chair of the Business and General Education Division at Blackhawk Technical College, has been named the Beloit Rotary Educator of the Month. The Beloit Rotary recognized Kropp at their monthly meeting on May 21. Kropp was honored for his commitment to student success.

Kropp has been an educator for nearly a decade and has taught in the Business Management program at BTC for four years. “After a successful 20-year business career, I yearned to do something more fulfilling. Helping students improve their bottom line rather than that of a corporation’s seemed to be just the right challenge,” said Kropp. Not long after joining the faculty at BTC, he created the Supply Chain Management Program to meet industry needs.

BTC has an articulation agreement with The School of Business at UW – Whitewater; an agreement attributed to the work and commitment of Kropp. This successful agreement allows Business Management students to begin their college education at BTC and then transfer to UW - Whitewater with junior standing.

According to Dr. Zahi Atallah, Vice President of Academic Affairs, “Jeff creates an engaging learning environment in his classroom and also encourages students to be involved in co-curricular clubs.”

Kropp added, “I encourage student involvement in the business club and other non-profit organizations to challenge their academic abilities, leadership potential and communication skills through coordination of various fundraising, campus, networking and community service activities.”

He is one of the advisors of Business Professionals of America, a student organization that has competed and excelled at the state and national level. He also organizes industry tours for program students and club members to learn more about business and industry. Most recently he organized a visit and tour of PlayMonster in Beloit for BTC students.

“I like to bring to life the content in my classrooms by having them demonstrate their knowledge and passions with role plays and humor. I believe in encouraging their focus on personal finance, career management and lifelong learning to stay relevant in their chosen careers.”

Jeff Kropp holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration (1998) and a Master’s of Science in Management (2007) from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.
