Moira Lafayette joins BTC as new Dean
March 5, 2018
Moira Lafayette is Blackhawk Technical College’s new Dean of Health Sciences and Public Safety. A veteran educator and administrative leader for more than 20 years, Lafayette took over the position on February 5, replacing Nancy Lightfield, who is retiring from BTC in April.
BTC President Dr. Tracy Pierner said, “Moira’s credentials and her variety of experience in both education and business development make her an ideal fit for this important position. She will be a great asset to both Blackhawk and the community we serve.’’
Lafayette joins BTC after serving as the Administrative Director, Academic Affairs for the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health. While in this role, she handled a wide range of responsibilities such as managing educational programs, professional development for faculty, program assessment and evaluation and grant applications.
Prior to working for the School of Medicine and Public Health, her experience in education included positions as the Education Director for the Wisconsin Technical College System, Director of Assessment for the University of Wisconsin-Madison College of Engineering and adjunct faculty member of Lakeland College, Kellet School of Adult Education, a position she still currently holds.
“I’m honored to join the Blackhawk family,” said Lafayette. “We have outstanding leadership and support from our Board of Trustees, great faculty, distinguished alumni and strong partnerships within the business community. The future is bright at BTC.”
Lafayette holds a master’s degree in educational leadership and policy analysis and a certificate in distance education professional development from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa and an early childhood teacher certificate from Madison Area Technical College.
