BTC Students Finish Strong at BPA State Leadership Conference

BTC students recently claimed 12 first place finishes at the 2019 Business Professionals of America State Leadership Conference in Rice Lake, Wisconsin. The students have become a strong contender in the Small Business Management Team Event taking the most first-place finishes in the history of the Blackhawk Business Professional Association (BPA) chapter. The club is advised by Jeff Kropp and Joel Schleusner.

BTC students competing included Amy Capstick (Information Technology-Web Software Development), Erika Kropp (Healthcare Administration/Information Technology Systems), Deron Wilson (Supply Chain Management) and NaTasha Noll (Business Management/Human Resources).

“We are so proud of these students who represented a variety of degree programs and brought a great combination of experiences at the competition. The salesmanship, team chemistry, and personalities of these students flowed well together despite the pressures of the competition,” said BPA Advisor and Business Program Chair Jeff Kropp.​

“The judges commented to me how the energy of this team was impressive. A first place win at state this year puts us in a strong position to compete with the top teams from tech colleges and universities from around the nation,” said Kropp. Each first place win qualifies the student to participate in the BPA National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, California in May.
