Blackhawk Technical College is set to launch a fast-track pilot program this fall in collaboration with Elevation Air.

The 21-month accelerated program is designed for students aiming for a career in professional aviation. It’s open to new and returning college students, with additional opportunities for local high school juniors and seniors through dual enrollment.

The Professional Aeronautics Certificate (PAC) program includes a weekly classroom course held at Blackhawk’s Central Campus coupled with flight training with Elevation Air at the Southern Wisconsin Regional Airport in Janesville.

Students will dedicate approximately 20 hours per week to training, encompassing classroom study, flight training and after-school assignments. This schedule enables students to quickly earn the necessary FAA certifications, including private pilot, instrument rating, commercial pilot and flight instructor certifications.

The program also includes state-of-the-art training equipment, featuring technologically advanced aircraft, advanced aviation training devices (simulators), and Boeing’s ForeFlight® electronic flight bag.

Upon completing the PAC program, graduates will possess the required certificates and skills to start building hours as flight instructors or in other commercial aviation roles.

“Our graduates will complete their training in under two years, less than half the time of traditional four-year programs and at a fraction of the cost,” said Dr. Christopher Johnson, PAC Program Manager and former Professor at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

An information session about the new program will be held on Saturday, June 29, at noon at the Southern Wisconsin Regional Airport in Janesville. Complete this registration form to attend the event and/or to receive more information about the program.
