Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul held a press conference at Blackhawk on Thursday, spotlighting a series of Behavioral and Threat Assessment Management trainings by the Department of Justice Office of School Safety. The press conference coincided with the second of these trainings, happening concurrently in the college's Conference Center.

“We must be proactive in working to keep our schools safe,” Kaul said. “The Office of School Safety is providing Behavioral and Threat Assessment Management trainings around the state to assist schools with their efforts to stop violence before it happens.”

In January, the Office of School Safety launched the training series to equip administrators, school mental health professionals, security personnel, and law enforcement with the necessary skills and insights to implement effective threat assessment measures, contributing to the prevention of violence in schools.

More than 150 individuals attended the day-long training at Blackhawk.

A free eLearning module titled “Foundations of Targeted Violence Prevention” is also available to all community members.
