Samantha Hendrickson is the recipient of the Blackhawk Foundation’s Nancy B. Parker Nursing Scholarship, which she is using to help pay for books and tuition.

“Scholarships are a great thing for students who need help paying for college and I feel privileged to have been chosen for this scholarship,” said Samantha, who is from Albany.

Whether through the scholarships or resources like access to an online library, Samantha sees the tools offered at Blackhawk as necessary for students to complete their goals. She has also learned that life happens and no matter what the circumstances are, do not be afraid to ask for help.

Graduating in December, Samantha plans to take the nursing licensure test and find a job in the area. She then plans to get her bachelor’s degree.

Samantha said Blackhawk is a great college and urges potential students to get information on the program they’re interested in taking.

“Schedule a tour and see what all Blackhawk has to offer,” she said. “Blackhawk is continually trying to make the campus better for the students and I would highly recommend to anybody to go to Blackhawk Technical College!”
