Rock County Public Health Department Announces Changes to the COVID-19 Vaccine Registration Process

Rock County Public Health Department announces that they will be removing the vaccine registration forms from their website effective today. After a review of the new vaccine registration systems that are now in place, it has been determined that these forms may delay the vaccination process. Anyone who has already signed up with the Rock County Public Health Department, but has not been contacted, will still be matched with a provider and contacted when appointments are available. The Rock County Vaccine hotline will still be available at (608) 352-6727 for anyone who has questions about how to connect with a local vaccine provider.

In 1998, after moving around the world with her Navy husband, Sheryl and her family finally docked in the Janesville area. Ten years later, she joined the Blackhawk family as the switchboard operator. “I was drawn to the educational setting because I had always wanted to return to college,” she recalled, “but never felt confident in my abilities to be a successful student. After a few months here, I realized I wasn’t alone in this feeling.”

Many children dream of growing up to become either royalty or someone who rides horses all day. Brianna Sheehan is one BTC student who has grown up to do both. In 2017 she represented Illinois as the Holstein Duchess, and just recently, she graduated from the Minnesota Horse Training Academy and is now one of their certified trainers.

Stephanie’s nursing journey started when her three-month-old daughter was diagnosed with Respiratory Syncytial Virus, also known as RSV. Little Annabelle was taken, via ambulance, from Mercy Hospital in Janesville to Rockford’s Pediatric Unit, where she stayed for some time. While on the unit, a second-shift nurse made their stay as pleasant as it could be.

First-Generation Student Receives Life-Changing Scholarship

The Blackhawk Technical College IDEAL Opportunity Scholarship (announced in fall 2020) has selected its first scholarship recipient. After much deliberation of talented, worthy candidates, the BTC Foundation announced Paola Delgado as the first recipient of this ground-breaking award. This scholarship opportunity will provide Paola (and future recipients) with funds to cover classes and materials, a stipend for living expenses, a faculty mentor, and an internship in their future career path. This scholarship program is an intentional effort to increase access to education and transform the lives of low-income, first-generation, or students of color entering specific programs.
