The SAFE Alert system is a state-of-the-art program designed to disseminate emergency messages to all Blackhawk Technical College students, faculty and staff. This service delivers messages by text, phone or email to you anytime there is an emergency that poses a safety concern for the BTC community.

Frequently Asked Questions

Emergencies are considered any event that poses a safety risk to the campus community. The most common use of SAFE Alert will be to communicate when the college is closed due to inclement weather. Other types of emergencies may include unexpected occurrences such a tornado or power outages, or any unexpected event that poses danger or puts your safety at risk.

All BTC student, faculty and staff emails have been automatically registered in the SAFE Alert system. To customize your communications (i.e. add landline or cell phone, text), go to MyBTC and click the SAFE Alert button.

No, never. We respect your privacy and you will never receive anything except for official BTC emergency communications.

SAFE Alerts are a free service to all students, faculty and staff. However, you are responsible for paying all messaging charges associated with your wireless carrier plan.

If you change your mobile number or email, simply access the system via MyBTC and update your contact details. If you've changed providers, but your number hasn’t changed, you may want to update your carrier information in your subscription settings as well.
