Alumni Awards Nomination

Blackhawk's Distinguished Alumni and Rising Star Alumni Awards recognize individuals who have demonstrated the value of a technical college education through career accomplishments, community service, continued personal and educational growth, and support of the technical college system.

Nomination Process

Please consider nominating deserving individuals to receive this honor. Recipients must meet certain criteria listed below.

The nomination process for Blackhawk Technical College Alumni Awards involves all of us. It encompasses a board canvassing of alumni, administrators, faculty, staff, and community members. Wide participation is critical to the Alumni Awards selection process.

Nominations for alumni awards are now open! For consideration for 2025 awards, please submit your nomination by Friday, Nov. 1. We appreciate your nominations to honor those who stand out in our communities as Blackhawk Alumni!

Alumni Awards Criteria

  • Must have obtained a degree (associate degree or technical diploma) from Blackhawk Technical College.
  • Current Blackhawk employees, district board members, and Foundation board members are not eligible for consideration.
  • Nominees who may be perceived to have a conflict of interest (i.e., grant funders, grant recipients, etc.) with the institution will not be considered.
  • The award is not presented in absentia but may be presently posthumously.
  • All nominations will remain active/in consideration for three (3) years.
  • Political candidates may not be selected or honored in a year in which they are actively pursuing election or re-election.
  • Awards may be withdrawn by the selection committee for any cause which reflects poorly upon Blackhawk Technical College.
  • Selection will be made on the basis of the following criteria:
    • Exhibits outstanding leadership and character
    • Achieved significant accomplishments in career field
    • Exhibits outstanding service to the community
    • Supports Blackhawk Technical College

All candidates will be considered regardless of race, gender, age, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or religion.

  • Must have obtained a degree (associate degree or technical diploma) from Blackhawk Technical College.
  • Nominees must have received their degree/certificate less than ten (10) years ago.
  • Current Blackhawk employees, district board members, and Foundation board members are not eligible for consideration.
  • Nominees who may be perceived to have a conflict of interest (i.e., grant funders, grant recipients, etc.) with the institution will not be considered.
  • The award is not presented in absentia but may be presently posthumously.
  • All nominations will remain active/in consideration for three (3) years.
  • Political candidates may not be selected or honored in a year in which they are actively pursuing election or re-election.
  • Awards may be withdrawn by the selection committee for any cause which reflects poorly upon Blackhawk Technical College.
  • Selection will be made on the basis of the following criteria:
    • Commitment to improving their chosen profession
    • Involvement in community and/or BTC while in school and after graduation
    • Demonstration of involvement and/or service that goes “above and beyond” or merits recognition
  • Special consideration will be given to those who have demonstrated a significant initiative by starting an entrepreneurial business, innovative service project, or other original enterprises.
