Central - Our Main Building

Central is your one-stop hub at Blackhawk Technical College for everything you need to start your journey and succeed, from Admissions support and academic advising to tutoring at the Student Success Center, picking up textbooks at the Bookstore, and grabbing a bite at The Courtyard Café.

Places + Spaces

The Student Success Center (Central - Room 2200) is your one-stop shop for learning support. Drop-in and use our flexible learning space that features quiet study rooms, computers, bring your own device workstation, printer, scanner, copy machine and a variety of other services. 

The Careers, Advocacy, Resources, and Engagement (CARE) Center's mission is to support Blackhawk students on their path to academic and career success by helping them access services and resources on campus and in the community that assist them in managing barriers and developing connections. 

The Follett Bookstore offers a wide range of educational materials including textbooks, school supplies, and course materials. You can also purchase college apparel including clothing, t-shirts, backpacks, and so much more. You are not required to purchase your textbooks and supplies from the bookstore; however, most students find it convenient.

You can choose to shop at the campus store in person or browse the Follett Bookstore's website. Online, you can take advantage of various services including reserving/pre-paying online for in-store pick-up or buying online and having your order delivered. In order to pre-pay online or have items shipped, you must have a credit card. For more information, email the Follett Bookstore or call (608) 757-7672.

Located on the lower level of the Central building, the Student Commons is a great place to gather with friends, study and enjoy food from The Courtyard Cafe.

​​​​​​​The Courtyard Café is the cafeteria at the Central building, serving breakfast, lunch, beverages and snacks.

At the center of the Central building, The Courtyard is an open, outdoor space for studying and hanging out with friends. It also features a stage and a fire pit.

IDEA stands for Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibily. This welscoming space, which is adjacent to the Student Commons, is open for students to use and is available for events and activities focused on diveristy and inclusion.

Blackhawk's Conference Center is one of our largest spaces used for a variety of events, including the December Commencement Ceremony. It also is available to rent.

Public Safety + Transportation Complex

In 2020, the voters of Rock and Green counties approved Blackhawk's $32 million referendum project, paving the way for the new Public Safety + Transportation Complex (PSTC). The PSTC serves several programs as well as professional training and skills development.

This 75,000-square-foot facility inlcudes a shooting range, fire and EMS apparatus bay, labs, classrooms, MILO simulation room, DAAT Training Center and the JP Cullen Fitness Center + Walking Track.

The Center for Transportation Studies is home to our automotive and diesel programs. 

Emergency Vehicle Operator Course is used by several programs, including the Law Enforcement Academy. An observation building is located near the course.

This three-story structure allows students in the fire protection program to practice a variety of scenarios that they may encounter when in the field.
