Area High School Students Receive BTC Foundation Scholarships Thursday, June 24, 2021 Over 20 high school graduates from Rock and Green counties were recently awarded the Blackhawk Technical College High School Scholarship. Each high school in Rock and Green counties was allotted at least one award each for a high school senior committed to attend BTC. Students received this $500, one-time award during their high school’s spring honor ceremony. “These scholarships demonstrate the commitment we have to help our local district high school students take advantage of all Blackhawk has to offer,” said BTC student enrollment manager Katie Lange. “We want high school students to explore the affordable, flexible programs and the supportive, engaging environment we are proud of at Blackhawk!” Congratulations to the recipients starting at BTC this fall: Ashley Letcher, Albany High School Humberto Casique, Beloit Learning Academy Julisa Melendrez, Beloit Memorial High School Isabel Saucedo, Beloit Memorial High School Savanna Schwartzlow, Brodhead High School Makayla Nimmo, Clinton High School Ivan Ayala, Craig High School Zyon Phiffer, Craig High School Isabella Gilmour, Edgerton High School Mariana Tinajero-Espinoza, Evansville High School Isabella Carnes, Juda High School Colby Know, Milton High School Emily Davis, Milton High School Charley Fortney, Monroe High School Tess Nafzger, Monroe High School Sierra Sherman, Monticello High School Logan Dahlke, Parker High School Brandan Annen, Parker High School Zoe Buster, Parkview High School Claira Czosnek, Rock County Christian Tiana Salinas, Rock River Charter High School Cassandra Eggen, Rock University High School Tristan Miller, Turner High School Jack Powell, TAGOS While many BTC students receive federal financial aid, in many cases, it does not cover all the expenses a student might face in their pursuit of education. Therefore, the BTC Foundation is committed to improving access to education through scholarships. “Last year, the Foundation awarded over 100 scholarships to our students. Thanks to the generosity of our community through gifts to our Blackhawk Fund, we are able to create new opportunities to help students pursue their dreams,” said Lisa Hurda BTC director of advancement and foundation.
