Change in Masking Policy Effective Feb. 21

Blackhawk Technical College leadership and the College’s Emergency Preparedness Committee (EPC) continues to closely monitor the COVID-19 situation, as we approach the two-year mark of this pandemic. The safety of BTC students, employees and visitors remain our top priority.

EPC met on Friday, February 18, 2022, in response to the declining COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations in Rock County, the state and the nation. In light of these changes, the Emergency Preparedness Committee and college leadership team decided to update our pandemic response.

Effective Monday, February 21, 2022, the College will require face masks for all individuals ONLY in BTC classrooms, labs and in-person gatherings where physical distancing is not possible.

Here's what that means:

  • Face masks are no longer required in hallways and other communal spaces where social distancing can be maintained.
  • Face masks will remain required by all visitors, employees, and students in all classrooms and labs regardless of vaccination status, per CDC guidance.
  • Individuals should continue to practice physical distancing, and when distancing is not possible, face masks are required.
  • The College will continue to follow advanced cleaning and sanitization procedures.
