What is your name, and where did you grow up?
My name is Mandi Adie. I grew up in a small town called Drumheller in Alberta, Canada—home to the world’s largest dinosaur.
What is your role at Blackhawk Technical College?
Copywriter and Content Creator.
Where did you go to school? What did you study?
I studied Philosophy and Creative Writing at the University of Central Oklahoma. After graduating from undergrad in 2018, I earned a Master’s in Philosophy from UW-Madison.
Is there something that drew you to this career?
I love writing and enjoy being in the college environment, so this position was a great fit for me!
What is something Blackhawk offers its students that you feel other colleges do not?
I think that the MyEdChoice program that Blackhawk offers its students is incredible. Life can be unpredictable, and there were times in my own studies when I would have been grateful for that sort of flexibility.
What is your life like outside of work?
Outside of work, I love spending time with my husband and daughter. We have two pets, a miniature husky named Twig and an 18-pound cat named Romeo!
Tell us something about yourself you think people would be surprised to know.
I play Dungeons and Dragons—I am always the bard of the group.

"Dreams" by Fleetwood Mac and the entire discography of Taylor Swift (Taylor’s Version).
What was your first concert?
Aerosmith and Motley Crue in 2006. I was close enough that Steven Tyler grabbed my outstretched hand!
What is your favorite movie?
"Silence of the Lambs" is my all-time favorite movie.
What was your favorite cartoon as a kid? As an adult?
As a kid? Spongebob. As an adult? Spongebob.
What is your favorite book or author? What are you currently reading?
My favorite book is "True Grit" by Charles Portis and I am currently reading "Cherry" by Mary Karr.
Do you have a favorite video game?
Skyrim and Stardew Valley are tied for first place.
What is your personal pizza order?
I always get the exact same pizza: double cheese, double pepperoni, and green peppers
Who is your favorite Muppet?
Miss Piggy is an icon. We should all strive to be more like her.
