A native of India, Rama moved to America about 10 years ago with her husband, a professor at UW-Whitewater. A dentist in her native country, Rama had to retake courses as an international student to become a licensed dentist in America and found Blackhawk to be a good place to start.
Kristen Ziegler, an instructor in the Dental Assistant program, said that Rama is a committed student who successfully juggles the many demands an adult learner can face.
"Rama is a collaborative learner and you will oftentimes find her mentoring her classmates as they master skills in the laboratory setting," Ziegler said.
