It wasn’t too many years ago that Janesville Craig High School student Dani Guerrero didn’t speak English. Born in Peru, she and her family moved to Beloit when she was 10.

Dani, who is a summer intern in the Marketing & Communications department at Blackhawk, learned how to write, speak and read in English in just a year.

“It was hard for me to enjoy school because I didn’t understand what my teachers or classmates were saying,” she said.

She hopes to learn several things from her intern experience.

“I hope to learn new and different approaches to problem-solving from hands-on experience,” she said.

She is also interested in learning from different people, which is an opportunity she feels she’ll have at Blackhawk.

“I also envision this internship to help me discover who I want to become as a person academically and professionally,” she said.

In her spare time, she likes to spend time with her family as well as crocheting. She plans to graduate from Craig in 2023.
