College Moves to Stage 7 Effective June 14

A Message from Dr. Pierner, BTC President

I have been looking forward to this message for a very long time. With COVID infections down and vaccinations up, the College will move to the final stage of its reopening plan on Monday, June 14.

Here's what that means:
  • All fully vaccinated visitors, employees, and students are not required to practice physical distancing and wear facemasks with the following exceptions:
    • Facemasks required when physical distancing cannot be maintained
    • Facemasks required on all BTC shuttles
    • Facemasks are required for all visitors to the Vaccine Clinic
  • Per CDC guidance, masks and social distancing are highly recommended for unvaccinated persons
  • Campuses fully open to the public and students
  • Shuttle service resumes regularly scheduled service
  • Most college services will continue to be provided online
  • No active screening protocols; all visitors, employees, and students are requested to perform symptom checks before visiting campus
  • The College will continue to follow advanced cleaning and sanitization procedures
  • Indoor facilities are available for use by outside groups
  • All fully vaccinated employees may travel out of state to conduct College business

Please know that we will continue to monitor the pandemic in cooperation with local, state, federal, and CDC guidelines and keep you informed of any changes to our pandemic response. We sincerely hope that we have come to the other side of the pandemic and can continue normal operations safely. Your safety has been a top priority through this, and we will continue to keep you informed if changes to our operations become necessary.

If you haven't already done so, I encourage all of you and your families to take advantage of the FREE DHS Community Vaccine Clinic at BTC. They now accept walk-ins and are vaccinating ages 12 and up. Individuals under 18 will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

We continue to have zero spread of COVID-19 here at BTC, and you have all done a phenomenal job of keeping Blackhawk a safe place to learn and work. Thank you all for your cooperation and patience during this journey.

All my best,

Tracy P. Pierner, Ph.D.
