Dr. Foy Concludes “Tour of Excellence” with Final Stop at Blackhawk

Dr. Morna Foy, President of the Wisconsin Technical College System, spent the day at Blackhawk Technical College on Thursday, May 9, touring the college’s new Public Safety Center and meeting with students, faculty and staff.

The visit was part of Foy’s “Tour of Excellence” project. Since last November, Foy has been making visits to each of the state’s 16 technical colleges to recognize and celebrate technical college students, staff, instructors, alumni and business partners who connect each college to their communities.

As part of her visit to Blackhawk, Foy spoke with a group of women students, staff and faculty, focusing on her career path as a woman in leadership. The event, which was part of a leadership series hosted by the Student Government Association, included topics from strategies on leading leaders to resilience in the face of challenges.

Foy also had the opportunity to meet several therapy dogs who were on campus as part of a mental health program through the college’s Multi-Cultural Alliance.

In March, Foy announced that she plans to retire later this year. She has been the WTCS president since 2012, and she was the first female to hold the position.
