Get to Know Jon Rosenbloom, Help Desk Support Technician

What is your name, and where did you grow up?

My name is Jon Rosenbloom, and I grew up in Roscoe.

What is your role at Blackhawk Technical College?

Part-Time Help Desk Support Technician

What was your journey to this role? Where did you go to school? What did you study?

I went to school at Northern Illinois University. I double majored while I was there, studying History and Communications with an emphasis on Media Study.

Is there something that drew you to this career?

I have an extensive background in customer service and have always been interested in technology. It was a natural fit to combine the two.

What motivated you to apply for this position at Blackhawk?

My wife works here, and I have heard nothing but good things about the work culture at Blackhawk.

What is your life like outside of work? Family? Community involvement? Adorable pets?

Back in February, my wife and I welcomed our first child, Eleanor, into the world, and she has been everything to us since.

What's one song that must always be on your playlist?

“Starman” by David Bowie

What was your first concert?

“Weird Al” Yankovic

What is your favorite movie?

That’s a tough one to answer, as it fluctuates all the time, so I’ll say in this moment, The Princess Bride.

What is your favorite TV show?

Similarly difficult to answer, but I’m starting a rewatch of The Good Place, so I’ll go with that.

What was your favorite cartoon as a kid?

SpongeBob SquarePants.

Do you have a favorite video game?

Portal.

Do you have any other favorite hobbies?

I have a regular Dungeons & Dragons game that I participate in, as well as a D&D club that I host at a school I previously worked at.
