Nursing Student Jumped Back Into Education for Degree

Image

Growing up in Missouri, Brian Warson has been a CNA for almost 17 years and has always enjoyed working in the Nursing field. He worked at UW Hospital for six years and currently works full-time as a private caregiver. A few years ago, he decided to take the jump to become an RN.

“I find working in healthcare so rewarding,” he said. “I love being able to walk into a patient's room who is having a horrible day and put a smile on their face.”

Brian enrolled in Blackhawk’s Nursing program because said he feels it’s one of the best Associate Degree Nursing programs in the state.

In his third semester of the program, Brian appreciates the small class sizes and instructors, whom he feels truly care about the success of their students and will go the extra mile for them.

When he started the program, Brian was in his 30s and had to learn how to study all over again and be able to balance family, work and school life.

For those thinking about enrolling in Blackhawk, Brian’s advice is to give 100 percent.

“When things become difficult, just keep pushing through because the reward is more than worth it,” he said.

Brian plans to graduate next spring and find a job as a psychiatric nurse.
