Welcome James Mathesius, IT Intern at Blackhawk

Image

James Mathesius is a summer intern in Blackhawk Technical College’s IT Department and hopes to learn skills that will help him in the future.

James will be a senior in the fall at Rock University High School. He also takes classes at Blackhawk and plans to get a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.

James applied for the internship through the Summer 2022 Rock County Internship Program, which pairs students with fields related to their interests and allows them to get real-world experience.

“I applied to become an intern to learn more about IT and networking,” he said. “I hope to learn what it’s like to work in an office and in the IT field.”

Managing his time between his job at Dairy Queen and school was certainly a struggle for James, but it wasn’t anything he couldn’t overcome.

“I had to really start planning more and create a rough schedule for what I planned to do each day,” he said.

Outside of school, James enjoys tennis, skiing and hiking. He is also interested in filmmaking and has been editing short films and sometimes incorporating visual effects.
