Blackhawk Technical College’s Technical Education Champion Award recognizes key community and industry leaders who demonstrate exemplary level of partnership with the College to promote technical education and economic development. It goes to the heart of what technical colleges in the State of Wisconsin embody – creating the future workforce for our communities.

Each year the sixteen (16) technical colleges in the Wisconsin Technical College System select one champion of industry (an individual or a business) for the award. The award recipient is chosen based their promotion of the local technical college; financial support to the district and individuals associated with the college; utilization of the college for employee training and by its students; and advocacy on the college’s behalf and enhancement of the community as a whole.

Examples of nominees may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Industry Partners/Businesses/Companies
    • Manufacturing Sector
    • Construction Sector
    • Healthcare Sector
    • Agriculture Sector
    • Medical Technology Sector
    • Financial Sector
    • Hospitality Sector  
  • Foundations
  • School Districts
  • Healthcare Providers
  • C-Suite Executive Leadership
  • Higher Education Partners
  • Chambers of Commerce

Please consider nominating a deserving individual, local business, or community organization, or civic agency to receive this honor. 

Following are the criteria against which nominees for the award will be measured.

  • Promotes Blackhawk Technical College to the local community, District (Rock and Green Counties), and beyond.
  • Demonstrates a financial support to the district and individuals associated with the College.
  • Utilizes the College for employee training (upskilling, corporate training, etc.) and hiring of our students.
  • Advocates on behalf of Blackhawk Technical College to the local community, District, and beyond as a premier option for post-secondary education, workforce skill enhancement, community educational courses (non-credit classes), etc.
  • Leverages the relationship with the College to enhance the community as a whole.
  • Shares measurable outcomes that the relationship gleaned that show an impact on the College, its students, faculty, or programs.
