Autumn Harvest Dinner to Benefit Culinary Arts

Blackhawk Technical College Culinary Arts Department will host its Annual Autumn Harvest Dinner on Tuesday, October 16 at 5 p.m. at the Buckhorn Supper Club in Milton. The evening highlights the delectable talent of the advanced culinary students and raises funds for the program; including to help supplement the cost of student externships. According to instructor Chef Mark Olson, students have been placed in externships not only in the region but also all over the country and abroad.

Faculty Bring Real-World Experience to BTC Students

From building kitchen countertops to driving stretch limos to coaching rugby in South Africa, one particular BTC faculty member brings an eclectic set of experiences to the classroom. Andrew Panici is an apparel and hard parts buyer for LeMans Corporation by day and a Supply Chain Management adjunct instructor by night. Supply Chain Management was launched in 2017 and will graduate its first class this spring. The program is offered entirely online via MyEdChoice flexible learning options. It was designed and implemented to meet the growing demand for quality workers in our local transportation and logistics industry.

Academic Advisor, Susan Dantuma, is the recipient of the Advising Profession Impact Award from the Wisconsin Academic Advising Association (WACADA). This award is presented annually to a higher education professional in Wisconsin who has distinguished achievement in developing new, creative and effective programs for meeting student needs.

Blackhawk Technical College’s nursing program has a lot to celebrate. In addition to the third consecutive semester of graduates achieving a 100% pass rate on the National Counsel Licensure Examination (NCLEX), the program received some great news for future students. The Parker Foundation has proposed a gift that would create a fund of up to $1 million in support of scholarships for the BTC nursing program students.

Blackhawk Secures $438,578 in Grants to Support Area Business Training

In today’s global economy, businesses are constantly seeking opportunities to gain a competitive edge, something Blackhawk Technical College (BTC) knows all too well.  With that challenge in mind, BTC is excited to report that $438,578 in Workforce Advancement Training (WAT) grants have been secured for 11 different area businesses. These grants will be used during the 2018-19 academic year for customized employee training designed to improve productivity and competitiveness, augment the state’s economic base, and expand technical college training services to business and industry.
