BTC Increases Enrollment for 2017-18

Enrollment is up at Blackhawk Technical College (BTC) for the Fall 2017 semester according to Dr. Jon Tysse, Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness at BTC. Dr. Tysse reports unduplicated credit and pre-college student head count increased three percent compared to the start of the 2016-17 school year and the full-time equivalent (FTEs) credits have increased 6%.

Alumni Spotlight - Sharon Cox

Just over twenty years ago, Sharon Cox was a married, stay-at-home mom that ran a daycare. In 1997 after two family members were diagnosed with cancer in the same week, Sharon became more intrigued by a career in healthcare and ultimately decided to enroll in Blackhawk Technical College’s (BTC) Nursing Assistant program.

BTC students to support Beloit Startup Week

More than ever before business and postsecondary education work together on common causes to preserve the nation’s competitiveness and economic opportunity. Next week, students from Blackhawk Technical College’s (BTC) Business Professionals of America (BPA) chapter will do their part by supporting the inaugural Beloit Startup Week with two events – an Entrepreneur Trivia activity on November 8 featuring several area business leaders and an Innovative Entrepreneurs in Rock County panel discussion on November 9.

BTC operates two bus shuttles that connect all five campus sites. Service runs Monday through Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. during the fall and spring semesters. Schedules are available at each site. The shuttle service is free-of-charge, but a current student ID must be provided at all times.

SSI Technologies earns FutureMakers Award

The Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) and Blackhawk Technical College honored SSI Technologies, Inc. on Tuesday evening for the company's dedicated engagement with Blackhawk over many years in efforts to promote career awareness and lifelong learning. The WTCS Futuremaker Partner award recognizes the unique, dynamic partnerships between Wisconsin's technical colleges and their employer partners.
