For many car enthusiasts, their passion begins by seeing a great example of automotive excellence on the big – or small - screen. From James Bond’s Aston Martin to Marty McFly’s Delorian to the perceptive K.I.T.T. fighting crime with David Hasselhoff, media vehicles have inspired people worldwide to learn how to modify or maintain their own cars and trucks.

When Tyrin Edwards was choosing where to attend college, he liked the feel and the closeness of Blackhawk Tech, but it was the nursing program rating that sealed the deal. The success rate of students combined with the resources of Blackhawk has helped Tyrin move forward in his educational journey.

Twenty-five students were inducted into the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) at Blackhawk Technical College on Dec. 9. Blackhawk students with a minimum GPA of 2.5, at least six credits completed, and/or demonstrated student leadership on campus were invited to be inducted. NSLS is the largest leadership honor society in the U.S., with more than 700 chapters and 1 million members. 

In 2015, the report Hunger to Learn: Addressing Food and Housing Insecurity Among Undergraduates surveyed 4,000 students at ten community colleges across the country and determined that more than half of all community college students struggle with food insecurity. Unlike hunger, food insecurity is being unable to access enough affordable and nutritious food regularly. Once knowledge of this research reached the BTC community, a committee assembled to assess our students’ needs.
