Workforce and Community Development Awarded $268,357 Workforce Advancement Training Grant

Today’s employers face many new challenges, one of which is ensuring their workforce is skilled and trained to meet the demands of an ever-evolving business landscape. Blackhawk Technical College (BTC) continues to be a driver in providing training solutions for employers to meet these needs. BTC is delighted to report that $268,357 in Workforce Advancement Training (WAT) grants have been secured for four individual companies and two consortium-based projects.

Kristy Crocker, Health Simulation Lab Coordinator at Blackhawk Technical College, recently earned the Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) designation. According to the Society for Simulation in Healthcare, there are only 2000 certified professionals globally. This formal professional recognition is a testament to the knowledge, skills, and accomplishments in simulation education that Kristy offers at Blackhawk.

First, I want to thank you for doing a wonderful job adhering to the College’s safety protocols.  Well done!  As a result, our semester is off to a great start and it is wonderful to see all of you so actively engaged in teaching and learning. I can’t thank each of you enough for your diligence in wearing facemasks, practicing social distancing, and self-monitoring for symptoms of COVID-19. Our ability to contain the virus is due to your cooperation and steadfast adherence to our safety protocols. Together, we are doing our part to maintain a safe learning environment.
