An Unexpected Path from Manufacturing to Physical Therapist Assistant

When his wife asked, do you want to do this for the rest of your life? Shawn Campbell knew the answer was a resounding no. Shawn had worked in manufacturing for 17 years when new ownership was poised to push him back onto the shop floor. At a crossroads, Shawn decided to return to school and he chose Blackhawk Technical College.

High School Students Excel at Blackhawk’s Welding Program

Quinton Scoville and Gabriel Christiansen are just two of several high school students taking advantage of dual credit opportunities at Blackhawk Technical College. Dual credit allows high school students to simultaneously earn both high school and college credit. Quinton and Gabriel are both enrolled in the Welding program at Blackhawk. Each week, the students spend time at their high schools and the college.

Blackhawk Technical College is pleased to honor Shawn Lerch with the 2019 Distinguished Alumni Award. Lerch is currently the CEO of Sauk Prairie Healthcare located in Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin. He is a living testimony to the foundation for success that is provided by a Wisconsin Technical College System education. A native of Albany, Wisconsin and a veteran of the United States Navy, Lerch has used his degree in Physical Therapy Assistant to launch him into a lifelong career in rural healthcare.

JP Cullen Donates $50K for the Nancy B. Parker Scholars Program at Blackhawk Tech

As three classes of Nancy B. Parker Scholars celebrate the end of finals week, Blackhawk Technical College is celebrating the announcement of a large gift to the scholarship program. The JP Cullen Foundation, the charitable arm of the nationally recognized construction company headquartered in Janesville, has pledged $50,000 to the Nancy B. Parker Nursing Scholars Program.
