Nearly 500 graduates earned certificates, diplomas and degrees at Blackhawk Technical College during the 2018-2019 academic year. On Saturday, May 18, 220 graduates participated in the Annual Commencement Ceremony at the Dream Center in Beloit. Jeff Kropp, Department Chair of the Business and General Education Division at Blackhawk Technical College, has been named the Beloit Rotary Educator of the Month. The Beloit Rotary recognized Kropp at their monthly meeting on May 21. Kropp was honored for his commitment to student success.

Thirteen Blackhawk Technical College construction and industrial trades’ apprentices have each received $1,500 scholarships from Ascendium Education Group (formerly Great Lakes Higher Education Corporation & Affiliates). The Tools of the Trade Apprentice Scholarship program helps apprentices with financial need complete their programs and advance to in-demand jobs.

Blackhawk Technical College faculty and staff recently gathered for the 2019 Award Ceremony. In addition to recognizing students for academic and leadership achievement, the event also honored community and student organizations, faculty and staff.

Thanks to the generosity of one local family, future police officers now have the opportunity to receive help to pay for their educational expenses at Blackhawk Technical College. The scholarship created in the memory of Beloit Police Department Officer Tom Niman will benefit a student interested in joining a local police department.
