PAS Headed to National Professional Agricultural Students Competition

Blackhawk Technical College Professional Agriculture Students (PAS) are headed to the national contest in Loveland, Colorado March 12-17, 2019. Students from the BTC Agribusiness program will participate in the contest and tour a number of agricultural businesses; including, Kinze Manufacturing, Lely Robotic Milkers, Dupont Pioneer Research Facility, USDA Seed Preservation and Cryogenic Vault, Five Rivers Feedlot (100,000 head feedlot), and Wholesale Greenhouse suppliers.

BTC Students Finish Strong at BPA State Leadership Conference

BTC students recently claimed 12 first place finishes at the 2019 Business Professionals of America State Leadership Conference in Rice Lake, Wisconsin. The students have become a strong contender in the Small Business Management Team Event taking the most first-place finishes in the history of the Blackhawk Business Professional Association (BPA) chapter. The club is advised by Jeff Kropp and Joel Schleusner.

Tim Mathews Overcomes Demons to Earn HSED, Obtain Great Job

“I felt like a hypocrite, urging my children to study and yet not having my own high school diploma,” 34-year-old Edgerton resident Tim Mathews said. Now he doesn’t have to worry. He finally earned his HSED through Blackhawk Technical College, and that has propelled him in his career path.

Free Income Tax Service available at BTC

BTC will offer the Internal Revenue Service Voluntary Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program, a free service intended to help low income and elderly citizens file accurate and timely tax returns. VITA will be accepting appointments on Tuesdays beginning on Feb. 5 continuing through April 2. Appointment times will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.  

BTC Instructor Joins Initiative to Fight Shortage of New Antibiotics

Blackhawk Technical College joins the Tiny Earth initiative to address a global critical health crisis: antibiotic resistance. BTC Microbiology instructor, Daniel Harrigan, has been selected to be a part of a network of instructors and students focused on crowdsourcing antibiotic discovery from soil.
