Nick McCormack’s career story started his junior year of high school when he began his 8 ½ years in the Illinois National Guard. Serving as a Forward Observer, Nick was part of the planning team for tactical movements directing artillery drops. Before leaving high school for the military, and even during his service, Nick knew that he enjoyed working on diesel equipment and big trucks.

Kristy Crocker made BTC news in September for achieving her Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) designation. At that time, she shared that her new designation certified her to run simulations that train our healthcare students and assess the needs of the community, research what has or has not been successful, and develop strategies to provide solutions. For the past nine months, Kristy has been working with Mallory Bohling, BTC nursing instructor, and the dedicated Blackhawk IT team to design and deliver healthcare simulations in a safer and more accessible manner during the COVID era.

Beginning Wednesday, Feb. 3, the community-wide testing site at BTC will transition from a drive-thru process to an indoor walk-in site. Testing will occur in Lot H (adjacent to the tented area) to ensure that testing can continue regardless of inclement weather.

When you add the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the stress of paying for higher education, it takes an expert to help students navigate. As BTC’s Financial Aid Manager, Craig Shultz supports a team of dedicated financial aid experts who connect students and their families with financial resources to fund their education. These resources include grants, loans, scholarships, veteran benefits, and others from federal, state, and private sources.
